The method developed by researchers from the aforementioned institute, which belongs to the Russian Academy of Sciences, allows for the cultivation of valuable tubers directly at home without the need for complex laboratory equipment or expensive reagents.
The scientists noted that potatoes contain up to 4.6 percent protein, which includes all eight essential amino acids necessary for humans, so a daily consumption of 600 grams of the tuber can fully cover the body’s vitamin needs.
Nikolai Semchuk, senior researcher at the Novgorod Agricultural Research Institute, emphasized that they had developed a method that allows potato tubers to be protected from infections and grown in an apartment, house, or summer cottage.
This technology makes it possible to quickly obtain the necessary amount of planting material for valuable varieties.
