“Cristina Libre is the official website that proclaims the innocence of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, unjustly convicted without evidence by an impartial justice system that acted as an enforcer of concentrated economic and financial powers,” a statement by Justicialista Party stated.
On the other hand, Vanesa Siley, a congresswoman and member of the Judiciary Council, from the Union por la Patria party, proclaimed the former president’s innocence during the Council’s recent Selection Committee meeting.
She did so in front of Diego Barroetavena, one of the judges of the Fourth Chamber of the Criminal Cassation Court, who upheld the legal aberration in the “Vialidad” case, along with Gustavo Hornos and Mariano Borinsky, according to another statement from the Peronist organization today.
The legislator appeared before the Council on Thursday with a sign in hand proclaiming “Cristina Fernández is innocent,” and justified her protest by explaining that she was doing so because she had to “share this table with one of the judges who signed the Vialidad ruling, a legal aberration that has no precedent in the Judiciary, in the Argentine judicial system.”
“Cristina is innocent. Cristina should be free. Whether you like it or not, we’re going to say it everywhere. It’s called conviction, it’s called consistency,” stated the congresswoman and legal advisor.
Meanwhile, students, faculty, and graduates from the University of Buenos Aires Law School met on Thursday to discuss Cristina Fernandez’s political ban and its implications for the legal world and the democratic system.
