Jaishankar thanked his Iranian counterpart for Tehran’s assistance in the evacuation of Indian citizens, according to a message from the head of Indian diplomacy himself on social network X.
He also expressed his gratitude to Araghchi for sharing Iran’s perspective and thinking on the current complex situation.
The conflict between Iran and Israel, which began with unprovoked attacks from Tel Aviv, intensified after the US bombardment of three Iranian nuclear facilities last Sunday in support of its Zionist ally.
However, a ceasefire between Israel and Iran was achieved with Tehran warning of a response to any hostility from Tel Aviv.
India said on Thursday it is closely following updates from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on radiation levels at Iranian nuclear facilities after the US attacks.
New Delhi also assured that talks and diplomacy are the only way to quickly restore regional peace and stability.
He also reiterated his concern about the impact of this situation on security and stability in the Middle East.
