During the signing of the document with governors from several states, President Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted one of the goals of strengthening domestic and foreign investment by organizing it into zones for industrial development, services, and tourism.
“We want investment from manufacturing or service companies, and we want housing and comprehensive development in these same hubs: schools, hospitals, so that we don’t continue with a disorderly development process,” she explained, emphasizing that workers must be close to their jobs.
The Coordination Agreements signed the day before by the governors will allow local governments to begin bidding procedures for who will operate each of these parks and begin work in August for the establishment of companies.
According to the information released, the Economic Development Hubs for Well-being will be located in the states of Campeche, Chihuahua, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Michoacan, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, and Sonora.
Secretary of Economy Marcelo Ebrard specified that the priority for these sites is to concentrate the efforts of federal and state authorities to boost economic activity and promote shared prosperity.
Their establishment will include a series of tax breaks and incentives, including an immediate 100 percent deduction for investment in new fixed assets and an additional 25 percent for training programs, in addition to another tax deduction for research and development initiatives.
The minister explained that these sectors include agribusiness, aerospace, automotive, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, electronics and semiconductors, energy, chemicals and petrochemicals, textiles and footwear, and the circular economy.
