On his X profile, Ahmed revealed that the IAEA’s support to Addis Ababa covers a wide range of sectors, including cancer care, veterinary health, tsetse fly eradication, nuclear engineering, and regulatory frameworks.

Grossi is in Addis Ababa to participate in the IAEA Rays of Hope Forum, scheduled for June 30 and July 1, an initiative of that international organization that supports member States in establishing or expanding their medical imaging, nuclear medicine, and radiotherapy capabilities.

The latter aimed at improving access to services, especially in countries lacking this lifesaving treatment.

Since its launch in February 2022, more than 90 countries have requested this support to expand access to cancer care. In this regard, the IAEA mobilized funds from donor Member States, private sector companies, and development agencies.
