Opponents of conflict with Russia emerge in NATO, Hungary says

Budapest, July 1 (Prensa Latina) Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that a majority is emerging within the Atlantic alliance that seriously assesses the consequences of a conflict with Russia.

In an interview on national television, Orban maintained that these nations believe any confrontation should be avoided.

Most importantly, a majority is emerging within NATO that believes any conflict with Russia could lead to World War III, he declared.

The Hungarian leader noted that if the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) enters into conflict with Russia on the side of Ukraine, this risk increases.

Therefore, this must be avoided, Orban added.

He also emphasized that sooner or later NATO will have to reach some kind of agreement with Moscow, as the alternative would be an endless arms race.

Since the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the EU has increased sanctions pressure and approved 17 sanction packages against Moscow.

President Vladimir Putin maintains that the policy of containment toward Russia is part of the West’s long-term strategy, whose sanctions deal a severe blow to the global economy.
