Italy condemns new aggressive US measures against Cuba

Rome, July 2 (Latin Press) The National Italy-Cuba Friendship Association (ANAIC), issued a statement today in which it condemns the new measures taken by the US government against the island, violating international laws and human rights.

In the document, the ANAIC emphasizes that, with such provisions of a genocidal nature, the current administration of Donald Trump, which counts among its top officials the caveman and furious anti-Cuban Marco Rubio, as secretary of state, intends to tighten the economic siege and cause greater hardship for the Cuban people.

It denounces that the new memorandum strengthens the travel ban from the United States to Cuba, as well as further hindering the supply of fuel and remittances, and sanctions are imposed on governments of third countries that use Cuban medical services to treat their populations.

They seek to threaten the economic and financial entities of the whole world, in order to try to prevent relations with the island in all fields, and for that purpose they keep this nation on the slanderous list of countries sponsoring terrorism, which entails serious consequences, expresses the text.

La Anaic claims that this hostile policy of the US government violates international law and numerous United Nations resolutions.

On behalf of the Italian people the members of this group expresses their solidarity with our Cuban brothers and with the institutions of that country, while reaffirming the condemnation of the criminal economic blockade, commercial and financial, and Cuba’s presence on the spurious list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

‘We defend Cuba, its sovereignty and self-determination,’ states the document issued by that organization which, in its final part, proclaims the principle that ‘solidarity is the peoples’ tenderness’.
