The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) denounced on its X profile, “In Gaza, hunger is being used as weapon. People are fainting in the streets from hunger.”
The UN agency warned that there is also not enough drinking water and called, for the umpteenth time, to lift the Israeli siege against the coastal enclave, home to more than two million Palestinians.
Before the conflict began in October 2023, Gaza had about 400 aid distribution sites, coordinated by the UN, including UNRWA, it underscored in another message on X.
The current program created by Israel and the United States is degrading because hungry people have to travel many kilometers to get very little food, and on top of this, they are being shot, UNRWA condemned, referring to the several murders committed in these centers by Israeli soldiers.
The Government Press Office in the Gaza Strip reported last week that at least 580 Palestinians have been killed and 4,216 have been injured by soldier attacks on those centers since they opened in late May.
