“We appreciate the collaboration, support, and provision of necessary information through the New Member States Accession Group,” stated Bolivian president, Luis Arce, during his address at the 66th Ordinary Meeting of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) Council and the Summit of Presidents and Associated States.
Be sure that the executive and legislative branches, the business sector, and the Bolivian people in general are working to adopt approximately 3,974 regulations and 84 agreements,” he said.
He stated that, in this context, one of the important advances for Bolivia in fully exercising its status as a State Party of Mercosur is the accreditation of 258 officials to participate in the bloc’s various institutionalized spaces.
He added that the country’s presence in the various decision-making bodies was also guaranteed, allowing it to assume rights and obligations within the gradual process of its incorporation.
“We are confident that we will soon submit a proposed timeline that will allow us to achieve our full incorporation into Mercosur within the established timeframe. We have three years and three months left to achieve this goal (…)” he emphasized.
For this reason, he requested that all State Parties collaborate and make an effort to hold meetings of the New State Party Accession Group, establish the Working Group established in Decision 13/15 of the Mercosur Council, and complete the tasks set forth in the Accession Protocol within a period of 180 days.
