“The BRICS summit will be held on July 6 and 7 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and on Sunday the president will participate via videoconference in the main plenary session of this important event,” the spokesperson said.
The upcoming BRICS summit, that will be chaired by Brazil, has a broad agenda which includes topics related to health, trade, investment, finance, climate change, the management of artificial intelligence, and the promotion of peace and security.
The BRICS group was founded in 2006. In 2011, South Africa joined the original membership (Brazil, Russia, India, and China).
Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Ethiopia became full members of the association as of January 1, 2024.
On January 6, 2025, Indonesia joined the BRICS as a full member.
