A release prepared by the Tourism Observatory of the General Confederation of Businesses (Confcommercio), indicates that Italians will make an average of two trips during the summer four-month period and 91 percent will choose to vacation in this country, with an estimated total expenditure of about 35 billion euros.

The month with the highest number of stays of one week or more will be August, with 11.2 million, while July will experience the highest increase compared to 2024, with 800,000 more trips for long-term vacations, according to the study published on the official website of the aforementioned organization.

The average expenditure stands at 1,170 euros per person for the entire summer period, a stable figure compared to the previous year and, as regards accommodation, 21 percent of overnight stays will be in hotels, followed by hostels, with 17 percentage points.

Short-term rentals accounted for 13 percent, while the percentage of Italians staying in second homes owned by them or with friends and family reached 14 points.
