India: Modi’s participation in BRICS garners great media attention

New Delhi, July 7 (Prensa Latina) Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to strengthen alliances within the Global South at the BRICS Summit in Brazil, and his meetings with leaders such as Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, have garnered great attention.

The Indian media echoed the Indian Prime Minister’s statements on the first day of the summit in Rio de Janeiro, including his demands for changes to global multilateral organizations for a multipolar and inclusive world order.

They also highlighted the Indian Prime Minister’s considerations regarding the need for reforms to the UN Security Council. The International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the World Trade Organization must implement immediate reforms to reflect contemporary realities and challenges.

Likewise, the national press also highlighted the BRIC’s leaders’ total condemnation of terrorism in all its forms.

In addition, Modi’s suggestions regarding the creation of a Science and Research Repository in the group by countries in the Global South, in order to focus on the supply chain of critical minerals, making it safe and resilient, and also to work on responsible Artificial Intelligence, were highlighted.

Another aspect highlighted by several newspapers and television channels is the bilateral meeting between Modi and other dignitaries, primarily with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, a meeting that marks a milestone in the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During the conversation, the two dignitaries exchanged views on deepening cooperation in areas such as trade, health, renewable energy, and biotechnology.
