The executive explained in an interview to the Sputnik news agency that the first test series of a thousand Brics banknotes in the denomination of 100 monetary units was already presented in Pretoria, where the Russian ambassador handed it over to the South African partners.
At the 2024 Brics summit in the Russian city of Kazan, Russian President Vladimir Putin was presented with the 50-denomination bill, Katirin explained.
The official also pointed out that at the last edition of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum the 200-currency note was presented.
Mr. Katirin noted that the idea was born out of the business community’s search for a way to visually and conceptually unite the group’s principles of multipolarity, equal rights and strategic partnership.
