In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it specified that this shipment being managed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, consist of 12 tons of food to alleviate the “induced famine” experienced in Gaza due to the blockade imposed by Israel.
The shipment comprises approximately 5,500 food rations, which can feed approximately 11,000 people, and is in addition to the trucks with Spanish humanitarian aid waiting at the border, the source explained.
The Air Force’s A400 military aircraft is scheduled to take off this Friday, August 1, from Jordan, to deliver food aid to the Gazan population using 24 parachutes.
It stated that this urgent aid shipment, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Aecid (National Agency for International Cooperation), and the Ministry of Defense, is part of Spain’s efforts to respond urgently and effectively to the humanitarian catastrophe affecting the Strip.
It is “a drop in the ocean” that will serve to alleviate the famine induced by Israel in Gaza, Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares emphasized.
“What is happening in Gaza must end now and cannot happen again,” Albares, who insisted that humanitarian aid must be delivered regularly, sufficiently, and safely in accordance with international standards, reiterated.
