India: Tariffs and Operation Sindoor highlighted

New Delhi, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) With denials on India-Russia trade, highlights to statements of authorities before Parliament on Operation Sindoor and repercussions of the US trade war, in the end of this week.

Remarks on President Donald Trump’s raising of tariffs to 25 percent on India for trading oil and military equipment with Russia, according to the U.S. leader, still dominate the national press on Saturday.

This goes in addition to Trump’s statement regarding an alleged report of New Delhi’s cessation of crude oil purchases from Moscow and his satisfaction if the news turned out to be true.

On the increase in tariffs, which will come into effect on August 7, the Indian government responded that it took note of it and all necessary measures to ensure its national interest in the negotiations for a trade agreement with the United States, which are still underway.

It emphasized that its priority is the protection and promotion of the welfare of farmers, businessmen and small and medium-sized enterprises in the South Asian country.

The day before, in a regular press statement, the official spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Randhir Jaiswal pointed out that India and Russia have a solid and consolidated alliance.
