A report by the National Institute of Statistics (Istat) published on the official site of that government agency notes that in the period from April to June this year food sales also increased by 1.3 percent in value and 0.4 percentage points in volume.
However, at that stage the marketing of non-food products remained practically unchanged, with a rise of just 0.1 percentage points in value and a 0.1 percent drop in volume.
On a year-on-year basis, during the sixth month of 2025, retail sales rose 1.0 percent in value, but decreased 0.7 percentage points in volume.
In June of this year, compared to the same month in 2024, food retail sales increased 2.8 percent in value and decreased 0.3 percentage points in volume, while sales of non-food products declined in both value and volume, by 0.3 and 0.9 percentage points, respectively.
