A commentary published by the state news agency KCNA indicates that before the end of the year, Tokyo will deploy surface-to-sea missiles with a range extended to 1,000 kilometers in Kumamoto, the capital of the prefecture of the same name on the island of Kyushu.
Missiles of the same type will also be deployed next year in Oita, Okinawa, and other locations, it stated.
The outlet reports that the Japanese media and politicians openly justify these moves to provide themselves with the “capability to attack enemy bases” and “means of counterattack.”
According to the outlet, the deployment of these missiles capable of striking neighboring countries has nothing to do with defense and, on the contrary, serves militaristic, aggressive, and geostrategic purposes.
It recalls that in its recently published Defense White Paper 2025, Japan called the DPRK and other neighboring nations an “imminent threat” and an “unprecedented strategic challenge,” which reveals where these weapons are aimed.
KCNA affirms that the aforementioned missile movements pose a great danger and advises Japan to “act prudently” and to be fully aware that any aggression against the DPRK will mean “its total ruin.”
