Mexican legislators promote progressive integration of America

Mexico City, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) The 2nd Pan-American Congress closed its doors in Mexico after three days of debates focused, among other issues, on the integration of progressive legislators of the continent.

According to information released by the Parliamentary Group of the ruling MORENA party in the Senate, the meeting, which closed at the Ibero-American Hall of the Public Education Ministry on Sunday, was attended by parliamentarians from more than 10 countries. “It is a significant exercise in which progressive legislators from these countries speak and discuss several topics, mainly the strengthening of our democracies and the sovereignty of our peoples,” Senator Beatriz Mojica said.

In her opinion, sovereignty should be understood not only as the protection of territory, but also as the active defense of the rights, cultures, and aspirations of the peoples who make up the nations of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Mojica noted that the Congress’s central themes included equality, solidarity, and sustainability in the face of the challenges posed by climate change, a phenomenon that disproportionately affects the Global South countries.

The 2025 Pan American Congress opened sessions on Friday, August 1, with pronouncements against the persecution of migrants in the United States and the rejection of Israel’s aggression in Gaza, which has killed more than 60,000 people.
