In his X account, the foreign minister wrote: We congratulate the Association of Southeast Asian States and its member states on the 58th anniversary of the founding of that grouping of countries.
We reiterate #Cuba’s willingness to continue strengthening economic-trade and cooperation ties with @ASEAN, added the head of Cuban diplomacy.
The regional organization, articulated under the motto “one vision, one identity, one community” was founded on August 8, 1967 in Bangkok, capital of Thailand, by five countries: Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia and the host nation of its first meeting.
It is currently made up of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
One of Asean’s main objectives is to accelerate economic growth and promote regional peace and stability.
