Defense Ministry Spokesperson, Colonel Jiang Bin, denounced the recent incursion of the US destroyer USS Higgins into Chinese waters, which prompted a response from Chinese forces that expelled the ship from the area.

Bin stated that the action is a serious violation of China’s territorial sovereignty and national security.

The colonel also described the act as an affront to peace and stability in the South China Sea.

According to the spokesperson, the Chinese armed forces remain on permanent alert, their mission includes defending national sovereignty and security, as well as protecting regional peace and stability.

On August 13, the US warship Higgins illegally entered Chinese territorial waters without authorization and was expelled by the naval forces of the Southern Command.

Beijing has repeatedly reiterated the need to resolve differences through dialogue and consultation to manage the maritime situation in this region.
