According to data published by the Army, another 6,213 soldiers have been wounded since then, although national media outlets consider this figure to be higher.

Of the total number of deaths, 311 fell during the incursion against Israel by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7, 2023, 456 in the military offensive against Gaza Strip, and the remainder in other theaters of operations, including the West Bank and in the war with the Lebanese group Hezbollah.

The figure does not include members of the Border Police, its elite Yaman unit, or the internal security services (Shin Bet), which lost a total of 82 members.

The Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported that of the 900 dead, 114 were members of the Golani Brigade, 70 of the Givati Brigade, 61 of the Nahal Brigade, 47 of the Paratroopers Brigade, and 45 of the Commando Brigade.

Fatalities were also reported from the Sayeret Matkal, the IDF’s elite unit, the Special Tactical Rescue Unit, and the Shaldag, the Air Force commandos.
