Motivated by the electoral disaster of La Libertad Avanza (Liberty Advances-LLA) party in the Buenos Aires Province on Sunday, the opposition will promote several debates in the coming weeks that will threaten Milei again ahead of the October 26 national legislative elections. These include the repeal of the presidential veto on the Pension and Pension Moratorium laws.

Issues such as the investigation into the tragedy of deaths from the use of contaminated fentanyl and the web of institutional corruption involving the alleged bribery for the sale of medicines for people with disabilities, a scandal that affects Karina Milei and her political advisor, Eduardo Menem, among other government associates, are also on the agenda.

Also included is a bill that restricts the president’s powers to dictate policies without going to Congress through the Decrees of Necessity and Urgency (DNU).

While the president and his LLA team have still not recovered from Sunday’s unexpected electoral blow, the Special Commission investigating the Libra scandal meets again this Tuesday.

The panel has scheduled to summon 20 people, several of whom are high-ranking officials, such as Karina Milei, the president’s sister and secretary general of the Presidency, who have reportedly charged entrepreneurs up to 50,000 dollars to arrange an interview, a meeting, or a photo with Javier.
