Since his passing on August 31, this great patriot and thinker has received numerous tributes from family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who expresses gratitude and celebrates the vast work he left behind for his homeland and for humanity.

Also in his honor, the Jose Marti Cultural Society will host this Thursday the lecture “Eduardo Moises Torres Cuevas: A Man Who Did, Thought, and Felt for Cuba,” led by historians Pedro Pablo Rodriguez, Elier Ramirez, and Javiher Gutierrez.

In the opinion of essayist, historian, and university professor Felix Julio Alfonso, what distinguishes Torres Cuevas’s work is that he has given enormous importance to the history of Cuban ideas and thought, distancing himself somewhat from those visions that privileged areas of politics or economics.

He highlighted his work as a cultural and institutional promoter, including his tenure at the Jose Marti National Library for more than a decade; his most recent tenure at the Jose Marti Cultural Society and the Jose Marti Program Office.
