The highest incidence was recorded in August, during the rainy season, when 81,028 people were affected by acute respiratory infections.

Statistics from the epidemiological surveillance site Minsal points out that in recent weeks, cases of acute respiratory infections have increased consecutively. In epidemiological week 32 (August 3-9), 26,189 people were identified with the disease.

Among those affected are 9,653 patients identified with pneumonia, mostly children between the ages of one and nine, as well as older adults.

Authorities maintain that acute respiratory infections are in the “safety zone,” while severe acute respiratory infections are in the “success zone.”
