Russia: Among the world leaders in number of foreign students

Moscow, Sept 9 (Prensa Latina) Russia is one of the leading countries in the number of foreign students, reported Konstantin Mogilevsky, Co-President of the Historical Society and Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education.

“Our country is one of the world leaders in the number of foreign students it attracts. Those who impose limitations on their cooperation with us punish themselves, their own scientists, professors, and citizens,” the official stated in an interview with the TASS news agency.

In this regard, Mogilevsky emphasized that higher education cooperation with China and Vietnam is developing at an accelerated pace. Furthermore, Moscow has established ties with Malaysia and the Persian Gulf countries.

Likewise, the Eurasian country is developing fruitful cooperation with several African nations, such as South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the Sahel states.

Cooperation with Brazil and other Latin American countries is also increasing, and traditionally good contacts with Venezuela and Cuba are maintained, he emphasized.

“We see the number of foreign students in Russia growing. They contribute a lot of money, not just for education. They live here, eat, receive medical treatment, and go to museums and theaters.

This is a considerable contribution to the Russian economy, in addition to other benefits, such as the growing humanitarian influence,” the deputy minister argued.
