“You demonstrated that Haiti is not only made of bad news, but also embodies culture, coexistence, and hope,” commented the official at the artists’ reception.
“Our thanks on behalf of the government for your contribution to promoting Haiti’s traditions and image internationally,” Herrick expressed.
According to the online newspaper Le Facteur Haiti, those present at the event expressed their gratitude to the Haitian community in Barbados and to the Government of Barbados for their warm welcome at Carifesta XV.
Haiti’s participation in this regional event had a marked symbolism, as it showcased some of its traditions, which had not been silenced by the precarious socioeconomic situation and insecurity caused by gangs.
The Haitian pavilion showcased talented artisans from all regions of the country, proudly displaying the expertise, creativity, and authenticity of their national craftsmanship.
At Carifesta XV, Haiti’s sculptures, paintings, embroidery, jewelry, and objects bear witness to the richness of the Haitian imagination and the strength of its people’s resilience.
