The authority specified that the decision was taken jointly with President Andrzej Duda, during an urgent session of the Sejm or national parliament, local media reported.
Tusk declared that the consultations with the allies have already taken on a formal character, within the framework of the mechanism foreseen for this type of alert situations among the members of the Atlantic alliance.
Warsaw will ask its partners for increased support for its air and air defense forces on the eastern border, the head of government said.
On Wednesday, the Polish Army reported having shot down several drones that violated the country’s airspace during the night, when Ukraine had declared an air alert.
In total, 19 drones were detected, of which three were neutralized, and wreckage was found in localities near the border with Belarus and Ukraine. There were no casualties, although minor damage was reported.
Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of Poland, called the incident a large-scale provocation and denounced the Russian origin of the downed drones, although without providing evidence.
