The registration process, which will conclude on September 26, urges political movements to disclose the names of the representatives considered to date, both the lists for Congress, whose elections will be held in March 2026, and the Presidency, with the first round scheduled for May 31.
Even when the parties have announced their decision to participate, they have until September 26 to withdraw from the internal consultations, where the parties have the opportunity to choose their final candidates for the 2026 elections.
Registrar Hernan Penagos stated that the logistics of the internal party consultations are similar to those used for elections, and the time to exercise this right runs from 8:00 hours to 16:00 hours (local time).
Although this exercise is not comparable to presidential elections, Penagos estimated that all polling stations in the country will be set up.
Sixteen parties, including the coalition of movements associated with the progressive Historical Pact, have so far expressed their intention to participate in the October 26 elections.
