Pakistan urges for decisive measures on Palestine

Islamabad, Sept 24 (Prensa Latina) Pakistan urged the UN Security Council (UNSC) to take decisive measures to promote a just two-state solution for peace in the Middle East.

Addressing the 15-member UNSC during a debate on the dire situation in Gaza due to Israel’s constant bombing, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also urged the defense of Palestinian human dignity and the accountability of the Zionist regime of Israel, according to a report in The Nation newspaper.

“The time for words has passed; now is the time for action,” declared the Pakistani deputy prime minister.

Dar highlighted Pakistan’s historic recognition of Palestine in 1988 and praised the recent wave of international support for the creation of a Palestinian state.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the establishment of a sovereign, independent, and contiguous Palestinian State within the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Islamabad representative also described Gaza as a graveyard for humanity and the world’s conscience.

He demanded an immediate and permanent ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian access, the lifting of the blockade, and the protection of Palestinians from forced displacement.

The representative of Islamabad also called for the creation of an international protection mechanism and reaffirmed the right of return for Palestinian refugees.
