Former manager of major Bolivian company arrested for corruption

La Paz, Oct 1 (Prensa Latina) The former manager of the Food Production Support Company (Emapa) Franklin Flores, apprehended the day before, investigated for alleged corruption, is awaiting a precautionary measures hearing.

The Minister of Government, Roberto Rios, confirmed the arrest warrant as a result of a complaint for irregularities in the construction of the potato processing plant in the municipality of El Alto, La Paz.

Rios informed that “the Public Prosecutor’s Office, based on a complaint filed by the Vice Ministry of Transparency, is carrying out the investigation for breach of duties, anti-economic conduct, among other crimes (…)”.

He added in declarations to the press that, for this reason, arrest warrants and summons were issued against some persons identified as possibly responsible.

The authority informed that the works prosecutor (former Emapa official) linked to the project presented herself voluntarily to give her facts, but was subsequently apprehended by order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, based on the elements presented.

“(…) She has approached voluntarily to provide her information, however, the prosecutor has determined – based on the elements presented – her apprehension (…). There is also an arrest warrant against Franklin Flores”, Rios explained.
