Egypt: Creation of a Palestinian state to achieve regional peace

Cairo, Oct 6 (Prensa Latina) True peace in the Middle East will only be achieved with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international law, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed.

“Peace imposed by force only generates resentment, while peace built on justice produces true coexistence among peoples,” the president stated in a speech marking this Monday the start of the October War, known in the West and Israel as the Yom Kippur War.

El-Sisi welcomed the resumption of talks to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip “after two years of war, genocide, murder, and destruction.” A ceasefire, a prisoner exchange, the reconstruction of Gaza, and the beginning of a peaceful process leading to a Palestinian state mean we are on the right path toward lasting peace and solid stability, he stressed.

The security and stability of the region will only be achieved through a just peace, he reaffirmed.

The president also stressed the importance of preserving the peace system created in the 1970s, which included an agreement between Israel and Egypt, to maintain regional stability.

In this regard, he called for strengthening cooperation in the Middle East to end all conflicts and “unleash the potential for integration, prosperity, and progress” in the region.

Egypt hosts the start of indirect talks between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) this Monday, with the participation of Qatar, the United States, and the hosts, to end the aggression against the Gaza Strip, where more than 67,000 deaths have been reported in the last two years.
