Cuban Embassy in Bolivia honors Commander Ernesto Che Guevara

La Paz, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) In Bolivia, the country where Commander Ernesto Che Guevara passed away, officials from the Cuban Embassy highlighted his legacy on the 58th anniversary of his capture and subsequent assassination.

Ambassador Elba Rosa Perez affirmed that it represents an ethical commitment to fulfill a mission in the land where Che and his comrades consistently demonstrated the coherence between revolutionary ideas and internationalist action.

Before the group gathered at the headquarters of the diplomatic mission, Perez recalled the relevance of the words spoken on October 18, 1967, by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, during the farewell in mourning for the death of the universal hero.

“If we want to express how we want the men of future generations to be, we must say: Let them be like Che! If we want to say how we want our children to be educated, we must say without hesitation: We want them to be educated in the spirit of Che!” the head of the state mission quoted in her words.

The participants in the event evoked Che’s struggle for social justice and his humanist thought through previously selected excerpts from his writings, and paid tribute to his image with white and red roses.

As part of the tributes in Bolivia to the Heroic Guerrilla, youth and leftist organizations deplored in a statement obtained by Prensa Latina the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for more than six decades.

The text was approved by 10 social organizations gathered at the Vallegrande Internationalist Camp.

“We reaffirm our unwavering support for the people and the revolutionary government of Cuba, as well as our strong repudiation of the criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on them.” by the United States for more than six decades,” the text states.
