US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social on Wednesday evening that both sides signed the first part of a plan to end the conflict, which began more than two years ago.
He underscored, “This means that all hostages will be released soon and Israel will withdraw its forces to an agreed-upon line as a first step toward a solid, lasting, and sustainable peace.”
The news was confirmed shortly afterward, separately, by Netanyahu’s office and by Hamas, which urged the world, especially Washington, to force Israel to comply with all aspects of the pact.
The sacrifices of our people were not in vain, the Islamist militia affirmed, after assuring that it will not abandon “the national rights of our people until freedom, independence, and self-determination have been achieved.”
Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari, in turn, explained that all terms and mechanisms for implementing the first phase of the ceasefire, which will lead to the end of the war, have been signed.
