According to the ministry’s Press Department in a statement broadcast on Syria TV, the SDF violated the ceasefire agreement on more than a dozen occasions by attacking Syrian Army positions along the deployment lines located east of Aleppo.
The missile attack targeted a facility near the dam, resulting in the death of the soldier and injuries to other troops present in the area.
The attack comes just two days after Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra announced the entry into force of a comprehensive ceasefire agreement, reached in Damascus on October 7 following a meeting with SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi.
The agreement, seen as a step toward de-escalating tensions, was a direct result of the escalation of clashes on the outskirts of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo, the most intense since the signing of the previous agreement in March of this year.
Reports from the Syrian news agency SANA indicated that the SDF also attacked Internal Security Forces (ISF) checkpoints in surrounding areas, killing one officer and wounding three others.
