In a joint statement, the allied movements, parties, and collectives affirmed that the Norwegian Nobel Committee’s decision “distorts the original purpose of the award and turns it into an instrument of geopolitical propaganda.”
They sustained that Corina Machado is an emblematic figure of the Venezuelan far right and an active promoter of political violence, foreign interference, and institutional destabilization.
They stated that, in recent years, she has also been implicated in terrorist plots and conspiracies against strategic infrastructure—such as the PDVSA Gas Complex in Monagas and the Guri Hydroelectric Complex—to generate chaos and justify a military intervention in that South American country.
The organizations denounced what they consider an “instrumentalization of the Nobel Peace Prize as a tool for domination and intervention in Latin America.”
The document reaffirms that “true peace is not decreed in Oslo or negotiated in foreign offices, but rather is built on social justice, the sovereignty of peoples, and internationalist solidarity.”
The signatories include the Anti-Fascist International, Dominican Republic Chapter, the Communist Labor Party (PCT), the Caamañista Movement (MC), the Revolutionary Force (FR), the Broad Front (FA), the Rebel Movement (MR), the Dominican Campaign of Solidarity with Cuba, and other political and social groups.
