Chilean electoral propaganda begins in public places

Santiago, Chile, Oct 17 (Prensa Latina) The campaign for Chile's presidential and legislative elections enters a new phase today with the start of advertising campaigns in public and private venues, subject to prior authorization.

In the November 16 elections, Chileans will elect the next president of the Republic, as well as all members of the Chamber of Deputies and half of the Senate.

Eight candidates are vying for the seat at La Moneda Palace: Jeanette Jara, from the bloc of left-wing, progressive, or social-democratic parties plus the Christian Democrats; Jose Antonio Kast of the far-right Republican Party; and Evelyn Matthei, from the traditional right.

Also vying for the seat are Johannes Kaiser, from the National Libertarian Party, close to the ideas of Javier Milei; Franco Parisi, from the conservative People’s Party; and independents Marco Enriquez-Ominami, Harold Mayne-Nicholls, and Eduardo Artes.

They are joined by 125 candidates for senators and 1,096 for representatives.

All of them will be able to carry out advertising starting this Friday in plazas, parks, and other locations regulated by the Electoral Service, and the display of posters must not exceed two square meters.

At the same time, the television segment begins, a program broadcast twice daily on open channels and lasting a maximum of 20 minutes.
