During the closing ceremony of the International Anti-Imperialist and Anti-Fascist Conference, held at Antonio Jose de Sucre Casa Amarilla, the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry, the diplomat stated that his country’s truth is defended in the streets and before the world.
Gil noted, “There are no threats or attacks capable of subduing a people determined to be free and sovereign.”
Organized by the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity among Peoples (ISB), with the participation of 52 delegations, the event aimed to articulate voices from the Global South in rejection of imperialist policies against the peoples and in defense of sovereignty and self-determination.
The foreign minister expressed that “we’re fighters and activists for humanity” and called on “all political parties, communities, and social movements to defend the sovereignty of our country, with the peace and joy that characterizes us as Venezuelans.”
Gil asked the delegations to establish a debate to counter the effects of fascism and build alternatives that rescue the independence values achieved by the liberators.
