The visit, the first by a top Vietnamese party leader to the European country in 12 years, coincides with the commemoration of the 15th anniversary of establishing the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership and aims to deepen bilateral ties, according to official sources.

The trip vives a valuable opportunity for both countries to review cooperation, assess achievements, and define a new vision and direction for the development of their ties, Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang said.

Thu Hang added that the trip is expected to foster further progress in bilateral collaboration and contribute to the implementation of important resolutions of the CPV Political Bureau on science and technology, innovation, integration, institutional reforms, private sector development, public health, and energy security.

British Ambassador to Vietnam, Iain Frew, announced that during their stay in London, To Lam and Starmer will discuss cooperation in key areas such as technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, clean energy, and the development of international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.

They will also discuss the possibility of further promoting collaboration in education and training to prepare the workforce of the future, as well as developing initiatives in the fields of energy and the green transition.
