The diplomat also said that Moscow reaffirms its position in favor of the immediate removal of Cuba from the odious US list of “state sponsors of terrorism,” since Havana has an impeccable reputation as an active participant in international cooperation in the fight against this scourge.
Zakharova remembered that the US blockade against the island nation is a long-standing sanctions war waged by the United States against Cuba in order to achieve its main objective, which is to overthrow a government they dislike.
This war represents a clear example of treacherous interference in the domestic affairs of an
independent state, she added.
The spokesperson noted that these restrictive, illegal, and unilateral measures were intended, among other things, to intimidate other states that wished to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with Cuba.
Later, Zakharova emphasized that Russia welcomes the virtually unanimous adoption by the 80th session of the UN General Assembly on October 29 of the resolution “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba,” which Havana presents annually.
