They are charged with kidnapping and torturing some 30 people in the town of San Javier.
The alleged crimes occurred between 1980 and 1984, during the military dictatorship that ruled Uruguay from 1973 to 1985.
One of those kidnapped was Dr. Vladimir Roslik, who was tortured and murdered.
The case is being handled by the prosecutor for crimes against humanity, Ricardo Perciballe.
Several of the victims were minors at the time, between 16 and 17 years old.
The prosecutor is seeking prison sentences of between 11 and 15 years for the officers, presenting some 70 pieces of evidence.
It was also announced also by the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo organization regarding their search in Uruguay for the grandchildren of victims of state terrorism.
