In a statement, the government specified that this delivery is part of Operation “Caribbean Solidarity,” carried out in accordance with the instructions of President Luis Abinader.
It stated that this donation is an expression of the country’s commitment to solidarity with the Caribbean nations affected by the powerful weather event.
The aid was coordinated by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Public Health, along with the Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Food and Promese/Cal, with the aim of providing a rapid, efficient, and supportive response to the urgent needs generated by the hurricane.
The shipment included food, medicine, mattresses, mosquito nets, sheet sets, sleeping mats, and basic hygiene items, transported by three boats and an aircraft belonging to the Dominican Republic Air Force and Navy.
He noted that the aid was received in full by the authorities of Jamaica and Cuba, in coordination with relief agencies and local authorities, ensuring that the supplies reached the affected communities.
He emphasized that “Operation Solidarity” represents a milestone in the Dominican Republic’s foreign and defense policy by consolidating the country’s capacity to mobilize human and logistical resources in support of sister nations during emergencies.
