Interior Ministry Spokesperson Nour al-Din al-Baba told Ikhbariya TV that the police and intelligence units have been conducting a series of joint operations for several days to prevent Daesh cells from reorganizing or planning new attacks on Syrian territory.
The official stated that intelligence information confirms the organization’s intentions to carry out attacks targeting State institutions and civilian communities.
Security operations have included, to date, some 61 raids conducted in several governorates, including Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, Homs, Deir Ezzor, Raqqa, and Damascus, resulting in 71 detainees, including mid-level commanders and fighters involved in terrorist activities.
During the raids, one Daesh member was also killed, a security officer was wounded, and caches of weapons, ammunition, and logistical equipment were located.
