Mexican President for talks between the US and Venezuela

Mexico City, Nov 17 (Prensa Latina) Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum reaffirmed her rejection of invasions and advocated for talks between the United States and Venezuela, following recent statements by US President Donald Trump.

“Hopefully. We are a country that always seeks peace, dialogue, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. We are not in favor of invasions,” the president stated in response to a question about Trump’s comments regarding the possibility of talks with the South American nation.

The Republican said that “Venezuela wants to talk” and that the United States “could engage in talks” with its Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolas Maduro, to pursue a possible diplomatic solution amid tensions.

“Mexico will always be there to help in any osibke way. Dialogue must always take place. We must seek talks and peace everywhere,” Sheinbaum emphasized this Monday during her usual meeting with the media at the National Palace.

Trump’s remarks came just as the United States’ most advanced aircraft carrier entered the Caribbean Sea in what appeared to be a show of military might amid escalating tensions with Venezuela.

They also coincided with the start of provocative US military drills in Trinidad and Tobago, very close to Venezuela, as well as continued attacks by US forces on vessels suspected of carrying drugs in the Caribbean and the Pacific.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio reiterated that Washington does not recognize Maduro, the democratically elected president of Venezuela, and continued its rhetoric of accusations against him.
