International Congress on Maths and Computing concludes in Cuba

Camagüey, Cuba, Nov 27 (Prensa Latina) The International Congress Compumat 2025 concluded today after highlighting the management of mathematical talent as key to the scientific development of Cuba and the region.

Luis Ramiro Piñeiro, President of the Cuban Society of Math and Computing, confirmed the success of the event despite logistical difficulties, highlighting its international character.

Eduardo Miguel Perez, of Granma, presented a sustainable model for managing mathematical talent, emphasizing that “scientific literacy is key to development with equity”.

The model is based on knowledge management, transforming students from passive receivers to active creators within their communities.

“We seek to establish two-way flows between the group and the community, fostering a climate of trust and solidarity,” explained Pérez during his conference.

The strategy includes strength diagnosis, strategic use of ICT and critical socialization of knowledge among contestants.

The preparation of teachers and the articulation of partnerships between institutions are fundamental pillars for creating dynamic learning environments.

Piñeiro especially highlighted this conference as “an example for the rest of the country” in preparation for international knowledge olympics.

The conference program included cryptography workshops led by Cybersecurity students from the University of Camagüey.

Workshops were also held on mathematics teaching, computing, applied mathematics and artificial intelligence.

All papers presented will be published in the event’s memoirs, while a selection will appear in the journal Ciencias Matemáticas.

The event, sponsored by the University of Camagüey, reaffirmed the vitality of Cuban science and its commitment to talent development.
