Cuba and China commemorate Revolutionary Armed Forces Day

Beijing, Nov 28 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and China commemorated on Friday the anniversary of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), an opportune moment to reaffirm their commitment to peace in Latin America and the Caribbean.

First Colonel Waldo Perez Cortes, military, naval, and air attache to the Cuban Embassy in this capital, noted during a reception that we are facing “a new and dangerous military escalation by the United States government to threaten the brotherly Venezuelan people using false pretexts.”

Perez Cortes emphasized the constant preparation for the defense of the Revolution, as well as the close relationship between the FAR and the people of the island.

He said, “In an effort to enhance our country’s defensive capabilities constantly, Cuba receives the friendly support of several countries, including the People’s Republic of China.”

On this matter, he recalled that the two nations recently celebrated 65 years of diplomatic relations and quoted Chinese President Xi Jinping, who stated that “the friendship between Cuba and China is unbreakable.”

Among those present were Lieutenant General Wu Aimin, Second Commander of the People’s Liberation Army, as well as defense, military, naval, and air attaches accredited to China.

Cuba has celebrated Revolutionary Armed Forces Day since December 2, 1961, in salute to the landing of the 82 expeditionaries from the Granma Yacht in 1956, who formed the core of the Rebel Army and initiated the final stage of the war of national liberation.
