El Salvador’s advances in world security ranking highlighted

San Salvador, Dec 15 (Prensa Latina) News outlets highlighted El Salvador's progress in the world security ranking, where it climbed 25 places, according to a report.

The document confirms the country’s improved security ranking, noting that in 2023 it ranked 52nd and today it appears at 77th in the table that orders performance from worst to best.

Called the “Global Organized Crime Index,” the report emphasizes that the measures undertaken by the government have allowed for the effective fight against organized crime, placing it first in the Americas region in terms of effectiveness.

Compared to previous years, the nation achieved significant progress in this world ranking, as in 2021 it was among the lowest-ranked countries, occupying 46th place, Diario El Salvador reports.

These advances are closely linked to the security measures implemented since 2022, which marked a turning point in the country’s international perception.

The experts’ report, the publication asserts, also details improvements in combating extortion, gangs, smuggling, illicit trade, transnational criminal networks, and crimes related to flora and fauna.

Furthermore, a report by the National Civil Police (PNC) highlights that December has now seen 11 days without homicides, bringing the year-to-date total to 286.
