Security sources pointed out that the operation resulted in the arrest of three people suspected of participating in the recent attacks against Syrian and US forces in Palmyra.
The operation is being carried out with the participation of Syrian internal security forces and intelligence agencies, along with teams from the international coalition.
Last Sunday, Syrian state media reported that internal security forces had launched operations in the rural areas of Homs in response to the attack on Palmyra.
The US-led coalition made arrests in the city, with the support of Syrian forces, registering at least three arrests in the Wadi and Jumhuriya neighborhoods during an operation that lasted approximately two hours.
Last Saturday, an armed attack against US forces in the region resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and a civilian interpreter, and injuries to three other military personnel, according to the US Department of Defense.
For his part, Syrian Interior Ministry spokesman Noureddine al-Baba asserted that the Security Forces had previously warned US forces about possible ISIS infiltrations or attacks in the desert region, warnings that were ignored.
