Venezuelan solidarity movement joins Cuba in celebration

Caracas, January 1 (Prensa Latina) The Venezuela-Cuba Friendship and Mutual Solidarity Movement joyfully and firmly joined in the commemoration of the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

The solidarity organization stated in a press release that this historic event of January 1, 1959, opened a path of dignity, social justice, and sovereignty for the peoples of Our America.

It noted that the Revolution, led by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and the Moncada generation, “became a beacon of hope for peoples struggling against oppression and imperialism.”

Its example of resistance, internationalist solidarity, and the construction of a socialist project has inspired millions of men and women around the world for decades, it affirmed.

It added that today, 67 years after that triumph, “we reaffirm our commitment to Latin American and Caribbean unity, following the legacy of Marti, Bolivar, Fidel, and Chavez.”

The statement emphasized that its best ecoression lies “in active solidarity with the Cuban people, who face with dignity the aggressions and the blockade imposed by imperialism.”

In the centennial year of Fidel Castro’s birth, the Movement called upon all social, community, and grassroots organizations to “keep alive the flame of Fidel’s legacy, expressed in the social and human achievements of the Cuban Revolution, which is also the flame of our peoples in their struggle for a future of dignity and freedom.”
