This year’s festival is dedicated to the 450th anniversary of Luanda.
The “Fesc-Kianda,” as it is also known, is also paying tribute to Angolan director Oscar Gil for his contribution to the development of cinema in the country.
The festival will screen 50 films until January 29 in theaters in Angola and Brazil.
Festival director Vanio Almeida commented that the event includes 10 documentaries, 10 animated films, and 30 short films.
This group includes the works competing for the three prizes awarded by the festival, as well as others.
The event also includes conferences and panels with industry professionals. Workshops and masterclasses, as well as training opportunities for emerging filmmakers, are among the offerings.
According to the Angola Press agency, the program also includes business meetings and networking opportunities for filmmakers, producers, entrepreneurs, companies, and investors, as well as exhibitions and photography fairs.
