The survey by the French Institute of Public Opinion (IFOP) for media outlets such as Le Parisien shows Gregoire with 32 percent of the vote in the first round, followed by the conservative and current Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati (28), the candidate for the Republicans party.
The poll, focused on the municipal elections to be held on March 15 and 22 in France, reads that centrist Pierre-Yves Bournazel, of Horizons and supported by the ruling Renaissance party, is in third place with 14 percent, while Sophia Chikirou, representing La France Insoumise, has 11 percent.
These four candidates would advance to the second round, suggesting a very close race to replace the Socialist Anne Hidalgo as Mayor of Paris.
According to the poll, a fifth list could also reach the decisive round in March: that headed by Sarah Knafo, candidate for the far-right party Reconquista, who, with nine percent, is close to making it to the runoff.
The race for the top elected administrative and political post in Paris is marked by divisions within the political camp.
On the left, the Socialists, Greens, and Communists are running separately from the Unbowed, forces that ran together in the 2024 legislative elections as the New Popular Front.
On the right, the Republicans are pursuing a different path than Horizons and Renaissance, parties that have been part of recent governments.
